This sweater was designed in the spirit of a French sailing shirt with a twist, something you could wear on a walk by the beach on a cool afternoon. The stripes open hundreds of possibilies for mixing colours, whether you’d like a classic navy and white or a more unexpected match. The body is worked flat to structure the entire sweater and to avoid badly aligned stipes between front and back. It also allows set-in shoulders which enhance stature the best.

I would suggest a 2-3”/5-7.5cm ease. But if you have any doubt about sizing, just pick a sweater with a good fit, measure it from armpit to armpit and multiply it by two to get the size you want to knit.

23 sts and 34 rows for 10cm/4” in stockinette, blocked.

Needles

One pair of needles in size to obtain the prescribed gauge flat (referred as size A). Suggested size: 4mm (US #6).
One set of DNP or one 30cm circular needle in size to obtain the prescribed gauge in-the-round (referred as size B), for the sleeves. Suggested size: 4.5mm (US #7).

One 60cm circular needle two sizes smaller than size A (referred as size C), for the collar. Suggested size: 3.5mm (US #4).

One extra needle in size A’, close to size A. Suggested size: 3-4mm (US #3-6).
