Mameko is one of the basic patterns of Japanese Kogin-zashi, a type of hand-embroidery. Mameko means a small bean and is characterized by a hollow diamond shape.
Bold Mamekos are placed on the entire body of the sweater.
Stockinette stitch is used as a base to represent a hollow diamond, the diamond line is made by slipped stitches so it looks like beans are connected in a row, and the connection with the adjacent diamond is made by cables. Place a series of small Mamekos on the sleeves as well.

The main body is aligned with DK weight yarn and mohair yarn held together, and the rib parts are finished with only the DK. I hope you enjoy the arrangement, such as using a single color or finishing the rib part with the same doubled yarn as the main body.

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

GAUGE
16 sts/22 rows = 10cm 4” in St st with MC & CC held together on larger needles, blocked.
20 sts/28 rows = 10cm 4” in 1x1 rib with MC on smaller needles, blocked.

NOTE
Mameko sweater is a drop shoulder sweater that is worked seamlessly from the top down. German short rows are used to shape the back neckline. Work front and back until the front neck is connected by cast on. The shoulders are formed with increases, then the back and front are knitted separately until the underarms for the sleeve openings. They are joined together and work in the round to the hem. The sleeves are picked up from the sleeve openings and knit to the cuff. Undoing the cast on stitches and also picking up stitches from the front yoke, the neck is worked from down to top.

こぎん刺しの基礎模様（もどこ）の一つである豆こ。豆こは小さな豆のことで、中抜きのひし形が特徴です。
身頃全面には大胆な豆こを繫げて配置しました。
中抜きのひし形を表すのに土台となる編地はメリヤス編み、ひし形の線はすべり目で小豆を数珠つなぎで連ね、隣接するひし形との連結は縄編みでおこないます。袖にも一連の小さい豆こを配置します。
本体は並太糸とモヘア糸を引き揃えて、裾、袖口、ネックのゴム編み部は並太糸のみで編み終えます。
単色で、またはゴム部も本体と同様に引き揃えた糸で終えるなどアレンジでも楽しんでくださるとうれしいです。

ノート
豆こセーターはネックから裾に向かって編む、綴じはぎなしのドロップショルダーのセーターです。引き返し編みで後ろのネックラインを作り、前ネックを作り目で繫げるまでは往復編みをします。同時に毎段の増し目で肩線を伸ばしていきます。袖ぐりを開けるために前後身頃を分けて脇下まで編み進めます。再び身頃を繫げて輪編みで裾まで編みます。袖は袖ぐりから目を拾い、袖口に向かって編んでいきます。ネックは身頃からの拾い目と別鎖の作り目を解いて編みます。
