Man of Aran scarf
This unisex scarf is meant as a tribute to the 1934 film “Man of Aran” by Robert J. Flaherty, about life on the Aran Islands off the western coast of Ireland: people there really need warm accessories!
And that is what Man of Aran is for: providing you and/or your loved ones warmth, comfort and style, the qualities that you expect from a scarf.
Its highly structured pattern gives it the very special look of traditional Aran knits.
This scarf is designed to be knitted with any well defined aran weight yarn of your choice : even the darkest colours will showcase the beautiful Aran textured pattern!
Yarn recommendation: the yarn used in the sample shown is Cheval Blanc Country Tweed.
For yarn substitution, I recommend Garnstudio Alaska Tweed, or Garnstudio Alaska if you prefer plain colors.
Other yarn suggestions can be found here on YarnSub.
Skills needed: knit, purl, simple cable work.
Measurements:
- Length: 60”/152 cm
- width: 8.7”/22 cm
Length is easily adaptable.
Instructions are written, and a chart is provided for the 8-rows Aran pattern.
Many thanks to my talented tester Compostqueen1!
