Gauge is not important so long as it is tight, so use whatever hook you need to ensure a nice tight gauge so your stuffing doesn’t poke through. I used Red Heart Super Saver and an F (3.75 mm) hook.

I designed a set of small animals for a few reasons. One, I enjoy a nice palate cleanse after (and sometimes during) a large project, it is nice to have a nice and easy instant gratification. Two, I love having small little creatures on hand to give out to little people that might be watching me as I work in public (which I do often). Three, they are wonderful to have as nice and inexpensive items on your craft fair table, it is hard to say no to the kid you dragged with you to a craft fair when the little thing they want is so cute and cheap. :)

This manatee is worked in the round using a magic ring (photo tutorial is included). As always, my images are on the last few pages of the pattern so that if you want to conserve ink you can leave off the last few pages when printing.
