Manchester Bee - Bumble Bee. Who doesn’t love these beautiful insects? We are lucky enough to live in the Cheshire countryside (in the North West of England) and as such, often have huge bees bumbling about in our gardens. What gorgeous and vibrant creatures they are and such a joy to watch!
The story behind the ‘Manchester Bee’: Manchester’s bee is a worker bee, reflecting a city made by the workers; made by the people. Mancunians have worked hard to make this place thrive. An often-repeated phrase is that “everyone in Manchester is as busy as bees.”
Pammaggie enjoyed the dragonfly project so much she asked for another beautiful insect and as we live just outside of Manchester this seemed the obvious choice! So here it is; the newest design and pics of the finished article complete with a row of little hives at the top and tassels.
We have developed the pattern in different formats to follow: in a grid/block chart pattern to follow throughout, crochet symbols (for the first 5 rows so that you understand how to increase on each row) and written instructions for the first few lines until you get into the swing of it!
The 4 ply black and yellow yarns were used alternately to create this adult size shawl, which looks absolutely stunning.
Knowledge of filet crochet is needed to be able to do this project. Filet crochet is not hard to learn and there are you tube video to help.
