Mandala Experiment Trial Pattern
PLEASE NOTE - a proved version of the centre of this blanket is now available - http://justdunnycrochet.svbtle.com/magic-carpet-ride-mand...
CORRECTION - after Row 7 (ch to make circle after ch loops), work in same colour and work 1 dc per ch over the ch links just made. Apologies!
This throw started as an experimental mandala. It’s made as a circle within an octagon, within a square, then medallions added to two sides to make it rectangular.
The original blanket is not finished, but the size at the time of the pattern is about 5 feet or so long by about 4 feet wide. Can be made to any size by adding or subtracting rows.
I’ve used cheap 8 ply (DK) acrylic yarn (because I make these to take a donation for a volunteer fire brigade - so my time and the yarn is donated. The cheapest yarns I can find are not available in other countries.) You can use any yarn/s you like as long as they are all roughly the same in ply. NOTE: I would tend to stick with DK or thicker as the section with large spaces where the medallions join on will take some stresses.
I’ve used about 1 kg of yarn (2.2 lbs Imperial) for the blanket so far.
That equates to 10 x 100g balls.
Could be used as a stash buster and to use up some odds and ends of yarn in the medallions.
