This pattern is to make a 16” wide celestial mandala, featuring a large tactile star, which also includes pattern instructions to make this into a foot stool / cushion with the addition of one skein of James Brett Retwist T-shirt yarn and a 10mm hook.

Includes full colour photos and written pattern in both UK and US terminology.

The central motif (up to rnd 10) is taken from my Celestial block that I designed for the Hobbycraft Granny Square Month CAL 2022. This pattern is for an adventurous or advanced crocheter and includes lots of tactile stitches; with lots of front and back post stitches, puffs and popcorns, adding dimension and interesting textured details.

The finished mandala creates a beautiful star. I worked the main sample in Knitcraft Cotton Blend but have also made and tested it in various other DK yarns; see pics for ideas. I also made it in hand dyed sock yarn with a size 3mm hook which resulted in a 12” mandala.
