Mandevilla Flower
This is the RIGHT handed version. The LEFT handed version can be found HERE.
This comprehensive photo tutorial pattern (9 pages, 60 photos, 5.3MB) will show you how to make this lovely realistic Mandevilla flower. The flower throat and petals are made in one piece with no sewing or piecing together needed. Instructions also include finishing and adding a stem wire.
You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader or PDF-XChange to view the files.
Also included is a condensed text-only excerpt of just the written instructions from the tutorial, 2 pages and no photos saves ink! . The numbered steps correspond to the photos of the tutorial which you can view on your favorite device if you prefer not to print the full tutorial.
NEW! A text pattern for a matching leaf using the same techniques learned while making the flower is now included!
Note: The green crochet bowl in one of the photos is for display purposes only and is not not included in this pattern.
Materials:
DMC Cebelia crochet thread or other tightly wound thread, appropriately sized hook & optionally a 2nd hook one size bigger.
Recommended:
-
Size 10 thread & 1.75mm hook for the base & an optional 2.0mm hook for the petals (flower approx 3.5” across) OR
-
Size 20 thread & 1.5mm hook for the base & a 1.75mm hook for the petals (flower approx 3” across) OR
-
Size 30 thread & 1.25mm hook for the base & a 1.5mm hook for the petals (flower approx 2.5” across)
The shank of the hook needs to be able to hold up to 13 loops. If your hooks don’t allow this, or you find it too crowded, consider getting a cro-tat hook (2mm to use with size 10 thread). PRYM is a brand that is inexpensive & widely available online. It’s unlikely to be an issue with size 20 thread & smaller.
