Maneki neko (lucky cat)
This pattern is
available for free.
This pattern is made in eight different pieces: ears, head, body, and limbs are all separate. The features were drawn on and the spots painted on, though they could be embroidered and made from felt, respectively. The coin is painted felt decorated with fabric marker. A small gold bell is required to adorn the collar, which may be crocheted from yarn or embroidery floss (shown), or cut from felt.
There’s nothing particularly hard in this pattern, but it uses a variety of techniques to achieve the looks and shaping - transition from working in the round to working flat, making a round piece flat and sewing it up, starting with a magic ring but proceeding in rows. And, of course, there’s rather a lot of sewing.
