The Manos colours were just begging to be knit together. With the black it just popped so nicely I couldn’t resist. Log Cabin seemed an obvious choice.

This is a pretty quick knit, and quite compelling.

Note: The black in original in the photograph is knit in the round. After thinking this over a bit more, I realized the whole thing could have been knit flat, so the pattern was written completely flat.

The black is Cascade…. could just as easily have used Manos, it just wasn’t available to me at the time.

To figure out how much yarn, thing of the number of mini-blocks (10 sts 20 rows) of each colour: For each block throw:

• 1 skein light green (100gm) - 4 mini-blocks using 1/5 skein each x 4 blocks, plus 1/5 skein for border
• 1 skein orange (100gm) - 4 mini-blocks using 1/5 skein each x 4 blocks, plus 1/5 skein for border
• 2 skeins green (200gm) - 8 mini-blocks using 2/5 skein each x 4 blocks, plus 2/5 skein for border
• 2 skeins red (200gm) - 8 mini-blocks using 2/5 skein each x 4 blocks, plus 2/5 skein for border
• 4 skeins black (400gm) - 69 mini-blocks - almost all of the yarn was used up

If you want to make the throw larger, you can calculate the mini-blocks. From there, calculate how much yarn is needed.
