Another make-it-monday, another pokemon pattern! This week, thinking about summer and swimming, I’m bringing you Mantyke! Mantyke is a perfect example of my “pattern paradox” – I look at it, think “This will be easy”, then get started, and realize “huh, how do I actually do this”, haha. Fortunately I found a solution rather quickly, and while I would’ve liked to do him with just crochet, I found it much easier to just felt his underside instead. I hope someone out there will like this cute little guy and make their own lil manta baby ❤

Materials
To make Mantyke you will need:
– A 2.5mm crochet hook
– Blue yarn
– A tapestry needle and scissors
– Stuffing
– Felting supplies and wool in light blue, black and pink
– A stitch marker to help you keep track of the start of the round; and I also recommend pins
– I recommend some pipe cleaner to help hold up the stem
Please note that you can make Mantyke using any size crochet hook and yarn weight for a smaller or bigger result. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm crochet hook, Mantyke should be about 10cm tall (including antennae), 20cm wide (from fin tip to fin tip), and 10cm long (head to tail).

Stitches & Abbreviations
The pattern is written using US crochet terms in continuous spirals. You will need to know the following kinds of stitches to make him:
– Magic Ring (MR)
– Chaining
– Single crochet (sc)
– Decrease (dec); preferably using the invisible decrease method
– Increase (inc)
