Manx Lighthouse Reversible Scarf
Save £2.50: get the full Manx Lighthouse Set for £12.50. This wonderful fully-reversible full-colour scarf depicts faithfully two beautiful lighthouses on the Isle of Man (British Isles).
The Isle of Man is an island of extraordinary beauty and variety located in the middle of the Irish Sea. It boasts many magnificent lighthouses, of which my favourites are the Point of Ayre (at the very North of the island facing the Mull of Galloway, Scotland) and Maughold (pronounce: mackold) at the East side facing the English Lake District), being in remote and romantic settings.
The scarf is worked effectively as a double-knit by using single-rib to keep the colours identical front and rear. The colour-changes are done by intarsia techniques. This gives reversible full-colour pictures with smooth surfaces and a soft feel.
Difficulty:
Intermediate to experienced
(The single techniques are not very difficult in themselves, but you need to be comfortable handling several strands at a time and reading charts)
Techniques Used:
- Single-rib stitch (k1, p1)
- Intarsia techniques for colour changes
- Reading charts
Material:
Great for using up small amounts of various colours:
White, black, yellow, heather, red, sky blue, aquamarine, green
You can use any yarn weight from 4-ply (14wpi) to Aran (8wpi).
