Maple leaf shrug
Pattern is free starting from March 2010 to encourage knitters to try it!
This pattern was submitted to the 2008 Renaissance Dyeing contest and was the winning pattern for the not-lace contest.
The pattern kit is available for purchase from the Renaissance Dyeing site, it consists of :
A pdf of the 6 page Maple Leaf Shrug Pattern
3 x 250m hanks of Light Gold -1413
2 x 250m hanks of Light Lilac -1704
2 x 250m hanks of Dark Lilac -1706
I was considering a sort of wrap with a “ragged look” made by many fluttering ends and this brought me to the shape of the maple leaves. I doubled the yarn and I found out a fabulous elastic texture so I left the ragged idea behind, but I saved the leaves!
I focused my attention on colours and I tried to blend the three colours that I had chosen in every possible combination, looking for smooth and harsh transitions too.
Finally I looked for a suitable stitch pattern that was agreeable on both sides of knitting….and I found out “the only one” that could help in blending colours!
