Maple Leaves and Moose Antlers
Maple Leaves and Moose Antlers feature two Estonian patterns, maple leaf and elk horn (which has been adapted slightly here, hence moose antlers). These mittens start with a provisional cast-on at the bottom and are worked from the cuff to the tip. Afterwards the live sts of the cuff are bound off using an i-cord bind-off.
The pattern assumes that you have experience knitting mittens, stranded colourwork, provisionally casting-on, and picking up stitches.
The yardage breakdown is as follows:
135 m / 150 yards MC
100 m / 110 yards CC1
15 m / 16 yards CC2
8 m / 9 yards CC3
The original mittens used PT2 in the colours 63 (MC), 59 (CC1), 14 (CC2) and 75 (CC3). PT2 is a woolen-spun yarn similar to Rauma Finullgarn. I would have personally described it as a heavy fingering weight, but Ravelry calls it sport. So make of that what you will, and just remember to check your gauge.
