Maple Sweater
*Note: Sizes 8 and 9 have not yet been tested. If you fall into one of these sizes and would like to knit the sweater, please message me and let me know so I can send you the pattern for free*
The Maple Sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down in stockinette stitch with a cable detail down the middle of the front. The neck is cast on in the round, and increases are used to shape the yoke. The body is then separated from the sleeves and the sleeve stitches are put on hold while the body is finished. The sleeves are picked back up and worked with a few decreases. Ribbing is used along the bottom edge and sleeves. Faux seam detailing is used along the edge of the body and the sleeves.
Sizes: (1,2,3) 4,5,6 {7,8,9}
Finished body circumference in inches/cm: (38, 42, 46) 50, 54, 58 {62, 66, 70} inches / (96.5, 106.75, 116.75) 127, 137, 147.25 {157.5, 167.75, 177.75} cm
Yardage per Size: (850, 910, 990) 1060, 1145, 1290 {1370, 1450, 1540} yards
Gauge: 19sts/in/4” on larger/body needle after blocking. Recommended ease of 5 - 8 inches.
Yarn: Jill Draper Ansel, Natural Color 4 - Fingering Weight, 440yds/402m 4oz/113g, 100% Superfine Merino wool, woolen spun.
This yarn is listed as fingering weight, but the gauge suggests it knits up heavier than your standard fingering weight, so if you are going to substitute using a worsted spun, go with a sport weight and not a fingering. Tones Light and Loft from Brooklyn Tweed are other good woolen spun options.
This pattern has also been tested with both these options from Brooklyn Tweed
Needles:
Body - US 5 (3.75mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
Ribbing - US 3 (3.25mm) or 2 sizes smaller than larger needle
