This is a top-down vest which is split open on the sides with cable details.

Construction
The order is to knit the back, front left, front right, then connect right and left. Knit the chest area and then connect it to the back, work in round. Separate it into the front and back again for split sides. Complete the front first, then knit the back. Neck and arms are picked up and worked in one-piece.

Option
The original design is shorter in the front.
There is an option to lengthen the front and make it the same length as the back.
