Marascani
Marascani is a mostly garter triangle, worked sideways in there-and-back sequence that resembles symmetry while creating a jaunty sideways pinstripe.
The design begins with the eyelet edge and garter panel, then the lace panel is added. When this is established, the striped body is added, and continued until you are ready to begin the other side.
The pinstripe adds speed to the project, and the form gives the knitter time to build confidence with this simple form of intarsia.
The size of the shawl is adaptable and can be worked to any size.
The design can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
Suits fingering to worsted weight yarn in any yardage roughly 600m and up (for sport weight, less in larger gauge yarn).
