Whether worked in a soft, halo-y angora or a funky tweed yarn that provides clear stitch definition, this hat is unique, wearable, and luxurious looking. It is worked in two parts. First the cabled brim is worked as a flat band starting with a provisional cast-on and seamed together once the correct length is reached. You could stop once this phase is completed and have a cabled head-band; to make this hat, stitches are picked up around the edge of the band and a second cabled section is worked in the round. (Optional) add a pom-pom to complete the look.

Approx. 175 yds/160 m heavy DK- or light worsted-weight yarn. Sample 1 (blue) shown in Elann Pure Angora (49 yds/45m each, 7 skeins used with yarn held double throughout), Color 07, Porcelain. Sample 2 (green) shown in Noro Tokonatsu (137 yds/125 m each, 1.25 skeins used), Color 10, Olive.
