These tri-color mittens are worked only one color at a time - no fair-isle stranded knitting here. The multi-color effect comes from slipped stitches. Detailed written instructions are given.

I used a combination of purple, yellow, and green (Mardi Gras colors) for contrast, but these would also look great knit with 3 different shades of the same color. One 50g ball of DK-weight yarn in each color is enough to make 2 mittens.

The mittens are knit in-the-round with dpns from the bottom cuff up to the fingers. The thumb gusset is created by putting those stitches on a holder and picking up the stitches later to complete the ribbing. The pattern makes a mitten that would fit a women’s medium to large hand. Different sizing can be achieved by changing needle sizes.
