A charted pattern for top-down stranded colorwork socks in a festive mardi gras theme, using colors and motifs that remind me of cold (yet fun) mardi gras parades in New Orleans with family and friends.

Size:
64 stitch sock (8 inch circumference, will fit up to 8.5 inches actual foot circumference).
When selecting size, consider that the negative ease should be about 0.5 to 0 inches less than foot size. Size alterations can be made with a change in gauge or with a change in number of stitches (most of the charts are 4, 8, and 16-stitch repeats, so it’s not as easy to change stitch count as it would be gauge).
As for length, the charts should be repeated according to your own foot length. For reference, I wear a women’s US size 8 and the charts are long enough to accommodate that size.

Yarn: I used Knit Picks palette hand-dyed into emerald, violet, and gold. The closest colors I found they have available are grass, French lavender, and gold. Substitutions should be fingering weight wool (or wool blends, it must be able to block well) in Green, Purple, and Gold. Think regal, festive, colors.

Tools required: needles required for gauge, plus needles one size smaller (for heel, if desired). Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and grafting, Stitch markers.

Skill level: intermediate (work in the round, stranded colorwork, kitchener stitch, etc)
Recommended skills: two-color cast on, two-handed two-color knitting, capturing floats, knitting inside out.
