Margaretha Franziska Lobkowitz's Stockings
Stockings that belonged to Margaretha Franziska Lobkowitz in the early seventeenth century in the Czech Republic inspired Sylvie Odstrcilová’s exquisite adaption.
Difficulty Intermediate
Finished Size 8” foot circumference, 13.5” circumference at top of leg, and 8.5” long from back of heel to tip of toe; foot length is adjustable.
Yarn DROPS Fabel (75% superwash wool, 25% nylon; 224 yd/1.75 oz): #113 ruby red (MC), 5 balls; #400 black (CC), 1 ball.
Needles Size 0 (2 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers; waste yarn for provisional CO; spare size 0 (2 mm) needle; tapestry needle.
Gauge 42 sts and 55 rnds = 4” in St st.
Notes These stockings are worked in the round from the top down beginning with a provisional cast-on. After the stocking is complete, the provisional cast-on is removed and the stranded colorwork is worked to the upper edge.
Yardage reflects full skeins of the recommended yarn: 5 Skeins of the main color and one of the contrast. It is likely that actual usage will be less.
