This warm, soft cardigan is knit seamlessly with minimal finishing for the maker. The body is worked flat in one piece, raglan sleeve shaping happening as you go, with stitches held on waste yarn to be worked in the round for the sleeves (I prefer the magic loop method with circular needles!). The sweet details above the hem of the cardigan remind me of little daisies. This cardigan and its matching bonnet were my first designs since moving to Germany, and so I decided to name the pattern series ‘Margerite’, after the German name for a type of European daisy.

This pattern contains instructions for six sizes, from newborn to 4/5 years, using between approximately 100 and 500g of Extrafine or Superfine Merino with a gauge of 22sts and 30rows to 10cm. You’ll need 4mm (6US) circular needles (as well as DPNs if you prefer working in the round with them). You will also need waste yarn or stitch holders, stitch markers and buttons.

Finished sizing:
Newborn (Chest 41cm, Length 25cm)
2-6m (Chest 44cm, Length 28cm)
6-12m (Chest 52cm, Length 31cm)
12-24m (Chest 58cm, Length 33cm)
2-3y (Chest 64cm, Length 38cm)
4-5y (Chest 69cm, Length 40cm)
