You knit the slip-over from top to bottom in the round,
in one piece. After the increases in the round yoke and the diamond pattern, knit a few sets of short needles to heighten the back piece. Then divide the work for the sleeves and the body. Also under the diamond pattern at the bottom, short needles come to make the back piece longer. The sleeves only get a border. The slip-over is oversized and has a wide neck.

The slip-over for Marguerite is part of MICCA, a collection that pays tribute to the many victims of the witch hunt. In Europe alone, more than 100,000 alleged witches were burned at the stake. Marguerite Tiste was one of the victims. She lived in Ellezelles, a small village in the Belgian province of Hainaut. She was barely 23 years old when she was burned at the stake in Mons on 27 June 1671. I imagine that she was crazy about life, about love. That she decorated her clothes with coloured threads and pieces of woven fabric. That she would be happy with this slip-over that bears her name.

MICCA weaves the history of all victims into timeless creations of thread. Each stitch is part of the chain that connects us across the generations. You can find my designs on my Ravelry page Micca-witchcraft and my website www.micca-witchcraft.be.
