Marguerite is a very pretty lightweight shawl. The lace pattern is quickly memorised, making this ideal tv knitting.

Enormously adaptable, the pattern is written for two sizes and two weights of yarn. Use any laceweight or 4ply/fingering weight yarn.

The shawl is constructed by increasing from the tip of the shawl outwards. You then pick up stitches along the outside edge to add the border & edging rows.

The lace section of the pattern has both a chart and written directions so you can choose which to follow.

GAUGE
Getting an exact gauge is not crucial but will affect size.

UNBLOCKED:
22sts and 30 rows = 10cm/4in on 4mm/US 6
20sts and 28 rows = 10cm/4in on 5mm/US 8

BLOCKED:
18sts and 24 rows = 10cm/4in on 4mm/US 6
17sts and 22 rows = 10cm/4in on 5mm/US 8

NEEDLES
As a guide, you should use a 4mm/US6 needle for laceweight yarn and a 5mm/US8 needle for 4ply/fingering weight. You will need a 80cm/32in (or longer) circular needle and a double pointed needle for the cast off.
