Marie Curie
Why Marie? Because she still is a role model or all scientists. She was smart and talented and made many efforts to be able to study science when only men could do so. And she excelled. When she discovered radioactivity, her husband Pierre, also a scientist, left his investigations to help Marie with her research. Together they discovered polonium and radium. Marie was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize (Physics). In face, she won two (also Chemistry), being the first person ever to achieve this. After Pierre’s death, she helped to develop the use of X-rays in medicine. She was an advocate for using knowledge for good and her example opened the door to many other women willing to pursue a career in science.
