Marie Curie is another pattern in my series of iconic left-handers.

Please note: This is not a finished item but a pattern for left-handers with instructions on how to crochet a doll resembling Marie Curie.

Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and is still the only person who won a Nobel Prize in both physics and chemistry, making her an amazing role model for every little girl who is interested in science.
Even more, when this girl is left-handed and her science-teacher keeps insulting her for being left-handed like mine did with me. Knowing that Marie was left-handed, too, would have been extremely helpful in that situation. Unfortunately, I only found out about that several years after graduating.
So, I hope that this doll and the knowledge that one of the most brilliant scientists in history was left-handed will help other girls in the same situation not to lose interest in science.

When using the yarn and hook size recommended in the pattern, Marie will measure about 17 cm / 7” from head to toe.
For Marie’s dress I combined patterns from an old crafting book from the 1930s.

Skills required: Crocheting in the round, magic loop, chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, front post single crochet, reverse single crochet, double crochet, front post double crochet, half double crochet, front post half double crochet, hidden decrease, increase, crochet in back loop only, crochet in front loop only.
