Daffodils are such a fabulous marker that Spring is on its way. This Daffodil brooch pattern uses knit and purl stitches, and a few basic increases and decreases, and is easy enough for even an adventurous beginner to follow. If you’re an experienced knitted, you should be able to make one pretty quickly! The pattern is perfect for using up yarn oddments and leftovers – you can use any shades of yellow or orange you have to hand

Tension
22 sts x 50 rows = 10 cm in garter stitch (working flat, knit every row)

The exact gauge is not critical, but will affect the finished size of your daffodil; if you work at the gauge specified, your daffodil will be 8 cm from tip to tip.

Yarn
Oddments of DK weight yarn in yellow and orange (the sample used less than 15 m of each colour).

You can use any shades of yellow and orange you like – daffodils come in all shades! – just remember that if you are using two shades or colours, the petals should use the lighter shade (A) and the trumpet should be in the darker shade (B).

I used Stylecraft Special DK in Saffron 1081 (A) and Spice 1711 (B).
