Assumed Knowledge:
You will need to be familiar with working with two yarns at once, I do explain my method for switching between the yarns but it will help to be comfortable working with two yarns before starting this project
You will need to be familiar with the following stitches:
Stitch abbreviations: (US Terms)
MC: Main colour
CC: Contrast colour
pm: Place marker
dc: Double crochet
sc: Single crochet
wc: Waistcoat stitch
bl: Work the stitch in the back loop and the 3rd loop e.g blsc1
C: Colour change stitch e.g Cdc1
ch: Chain
skp: Skip stitch
sl st: Slip stitch
ch-sp: Chain space
Note about Waistcoat stitch, and working double crochet into the V of a single crochet:
The Waistcoat stitch/working into the V, is integral to the design it can not be substituted with a standard single crochet or by working the CC dcs into the top of the sc
Materials needed:
Marigold Mug Mat was designed using 8ply/DK/weight 3 yarn. Meterage used was 38.5 m/42 yds. CC - 19 m/20 yds, MC1 - 3 m/3.2 yds, MC2 - 7 m/7.6 yds, MC3 - 9.5 m/10.3 yds
The design measures 15 cm/6” across
Stitch markers
Wool/darning needle
Gauge: not required
Recommended hook size: 3.5 - 4mm. I used a 3.75 mm
Or hook appropriate for your chosen yarn weight
