Anne: Oh, Marilla, you look so elegant!
Marilla: You don’t make important visits in kitchen clothes.

Marilla is a cozy, sophisticated shoulder shawl – reflecting the late-summer and autumnal season with its wide leafborder, warmbrown color and perfect shape to throw over any sweater, jacket or cardigan on chilly evenings! Imagine Anne of Green Gables’ Marilla sitting in front of the fireplace, knitting and stitching and this curved beauty on her shoulders…
Yes! Its color might remind you of Anne’s hair :).

Garter stitch is used to bring extra warmth to you. Besides, it’s easy to knit. You knit a tiny slip-stitch border on one side and a really realistic-looking leaf-pattern on the other. And the shaping? Some regular increases will make you hurry to finish it! The shawl is knitted completely sideways in a curved triangle shape.

You can change from dk to worsted-weight yarn with good stitch definition to make it bigger without altering anything in the pattern (except gauge :)). Do not use multicolored yarns, it would compete against the leaf pattern border.

You should have already knitted some projects with knit- and purl stitches and in- and decreasing. And had some practice in short-rows. Then you can start! You can even use this pattern to learn some new skills, see knowledge.
