Marine Building Shawl
This reversible crescent-shaped lace shawlette is the sixth in a series of 12 patterns that form my Canadian Art Deco Knits e-book. You can buy them individually or as part of the e-book.
The gorgeous Marine Building in Vancouver is, in my opinion, the most amazing example of Canadian Art Deco architecture. It could inspire a whole series of designs. What captured me was the repeated diamond patterns around the entrance.
The lace diamond border in this shawl is both in stockinette and reverse stockinette. The two stitches catch the light differently, highlighting the pattern.
The fingering weight sample used 95g of Riverside Studio Merino Sock (approx. 399yds/365m). The final size is 63” long and 10.5” deep in the middle.
The sport weight sample used 175g of Raventwist Deva in Slate (approx. 429yds/392m). The final size is 71” long and 13” deep in the middle.
