This pattern is mainly about Mario and Luigi, which you can add to any kind of work but in this case I made cool Mario Bros socks with.
I give very simple instructions for the socks I made but I recommend you create your very own. For exemple, I chose to make Mario and Luigi face me but you might want to make them face the other way around.
I also made other Mario characters, such as Toad, Peach, Yoshi and Bowser that you’ll find in another pattern.
The instructions I give suppose you already know how to knit a sock.

I used size 3.0 mm needles for myself and the instructions are for socks between size 43-44 with these needles and the Teetee Pallas yarn.
I also made smaller socks for someone else with size 2.5 mm needles and the Sandnes Garn Sisu yarn and with the same instructions they’re about size 38-39.

It’s better if you use the same kind of yarn for the Mario/Luigi pattern that you used for the sock, but it works too if the yarn is slightly thicker.
The colors of the pattern will also look better if the base color of the sock is clear (white in my case).

For the two characters you’ll need these colors:

  • Red
  • Green
  • White
  • Peach (or close to a skin color)
  • Blue
  • Brown
  • Black

It doesn’t really matter if they are not from the same brand, but as I suggested earlier it’s better if they are about the same thickness.

When you add the Mario/Luigi pattern on the sock by duplicating the stitches, make sure you don’t pull the yarn too tight.

Instructions:

Knit 5 rows of rib stitch (k2, p2) with the red/green yarn, then 5 rows with the white and again 5 with the colored one.
Cut the colored yarn, (k2, p2) for 32 rows with the white yarn.

Heel:
Knit right side, purl wrong side, 13 rows with the white then 14 rows with the colored.
Turn the heel using your favorite method.

Change to the white yarn after turning the heel and knit 57 rows of stockinette stitch from the heel (or according to your foot size), then knit 3 rows of the toe decrease still with the white before changing to the colored and knit with the colored yarn until the end of the sock.

When the sock is ready, duplicate the stitches using the Mario/Luigi pattern and you have a beautiful Mario/Luigi sock.
