This lush chartreuse accessory has an unlikely origin story that starts in Iceland, at the design house Farmers Market. In addition to its signature modern lopapeysa, the boutique had an incredible selection of accessories made from local fur. One item in particular stole my heart, a lush collar with streaks of copper, black, and gold. It looked at home in any ensemble, taking a feral feeling when paired with worn denim and an upscale vintage vibe when worn with silk.

I know that fur is not for everyone, so I wanted to re-create the shaggy, dramatic piece using wool. Lustrous, colorful curly locks are the perfect raw material, but knitting them would have dampened their spiraling bounce. Instead, I knit a double-layered base and affixed the locks with a crochet hook, pulling them through one layer. It’s a fun, meditative process that I revisited for the Studio Pullover.
