This lace shawl is knitted from the top down, starting with a garter tab. The lace patterns it incorporates are Spider Lace, Palm Leaf Chevron and Chevron. It ends with leaf designs which can be stretched during blocking to create ‘points’. Optional beads are incorporated into the pattern.

The purple sample shawl was knitted in Sublime Lace Extra Fine Merino Wool (1400m per 100g) using 3.25mm 100cm circular needles. A total of 58g (ie approx. 812m/889yards) was used. (3 x 25g balls).

653 size 8 Miyuki beads (approx. 20g) are also incorporated into the shawl.

Shawl dimensions after blocking:-
66 inches across wingspan
33 inches long

8 repeats of Chart A
2 repeats of Chart B
1 repeat of all other charts

Instructions are also given for two shawlettes:-

A cream shawlette knitted using 50g of Fyberspates Scrumptious lace yarn - dimensions 23 inches deep and 46 inches wide across wingspan. 2.25mm 100cm circular needles were used to achieve a tight lace knit. 10 repeats of Chart A were done, Chart B was omitted, and one repeat of all other charts were worked.

A striped shawlette knitted using 90g of Noro Taiyo Sock yarn - dimensions 25 inches deep and 50 inches wide across the wingspan. 3.5mm 100cm circular needles were used to achieve this. Chart B was omitted, 5 repeats of Chart A were worked and one repeat of all other charts.

Different sizes of shawl can be achieved by varying the number of repeats of Charts A and B or by using a different yarn and needle sizes.
