Market Girl Hat Pattern

The Market Girl Hat is a pattern I developed when all I had was around 100 yards of worsted weight handspun at our local farmer’s market, and my regular project left at home. I was inspired to create an adult hat that looked adorable in the varying weights and organic nature of handspun, was super quick and east to make, and would be great for crisp market days- that is when this design was born! It is a very simple pattern that knits up in a day, is reversible, and looks great in my two favorite yarns: Bumblebee Ares Squishy DK and DK or Worsted Hand Spun! The hat works up in a simple, lacey spiral that is only as extravagant as the yarn it’s knit in. This design compliments all kinds of variegated handdyed yarns, as well as handspun! You can even double up your handdyed fingering yarn for a faux-handspun effect! The options are endless, so make it your own, one-of-a-kind hat, perfect for any boho, chic, classy, or trendy ensemble!

Skill Level: Beginner/ Basic Lace

Stitches to know: Knit, Purl, Yarn Over, Knit 2 Together

Needle Sizes: US 5-7 for brim, US 6-9 for body

Shown knit in 100-200 yards of Bumblebee Acres Farm’s Squishy DK in color way “Autumn Rainbow” and one skein (approx 100 yards) of Bumblebee Acres Farm’s handspun one of a kind yarn! (can be made with any Bumblebee Acres 2 oz fiber! Rolags, Batts, and Top!)
