This design was created in collaboration with Explorer Knits + Fibers upcoming collection that will preview at Flock Fiber Festival in August. The pattern will be available for purchase on August 9th in coordination with the event and yarn collection. Note: See below for yardage estimates and pattern info.

The Market Henley is a lightweight, waffle stitch Henley-style top. It has a crew style neckline with neck shaping and Henley button band, and is worked top down (flat for the armhole shaping, then in the round for the remainder of the body and sleeves) with a sloped drop shoulder construction. The collar, cuffs and bottom edge have a 1x1 ribbed hem. It is designed for long sleeves, but it looks cute with short sleeves as well! There will be 3 buttons along the button band at the neck, recommended size of 0.5-0.75 inch / 1.25-2 cm. The sweater is designed to fall to a slightly cropped level. The pattern is intended to be a boxy fit, but will have options for waist shaping if desired, as well as adding extra length as needed for the body and sleeves. This is a size inclusive design, written for 11 sizes (32-72 inch / 80-180 cm finished bust, in 4 inch / 10 cm increments) and designed for 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm of positive ease.

Sizes offered:
32 (36, 40, 44) (48, 52, 56) {60, 64, 68, 72} inches / 80 (90, 100, 110) (120, 130, 140) {150, 160, 170, 180} cm
To fit actual bust of:
24-28 (28-32, 32-36, 36-40) (40-44, 44-48, 48-52) {52-56, 56-60, 60-64, 64-68} inches / 60-70 (70-80, 80-90, 90-100) (100-110, 110-120, 120-130) {130-140, 140-150, 150-160, 160-170} cm

Note: The sizes reflect the FINISHED bust measurements in inches of the sweater, and listed below the sizes you can see the actual bust range for each size. The sweater is designed for 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm of positive ease. To determine the size you wish to knit, measure your bust, and add 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm to find the closest size. If you are in between sizes, size down for a snugger fit, or up for a looser fit. My sample is knit with about 8 inches / 20 cm of positive ease (size 44 on a 36 inch / 90 cm bust).

Note: If you are fairly busty, you may want to use a lower positive ease, or knit a size based on your upper bust measurement rather than your full bust measurement, this will help prevent the sweater being too loose around the rest of your torso.*

Needles recommended:
3.75 mm / US 5 - main body
3.5 mm / US 4 - ribbing
I recommend using circular needles with a cord length that matches your bust circumference, plus either a small circumference (9-12”) cord, DPNs, or 40” cord (for magic loop) for the sleeves
May need other size needles to meet gauge

Gauge:
26 sts x 36 rows = 4 x 4 inches (waffle stitch pattern, in the round, blocked)
You may want to also swatch flat as some portions of the sweater are knit flat, especially if you know your tension varies between flat and in the round knitting.

Note: If your stitch count is correct for gauge, but row count is not, use this needle size but remember you may need to adjust your length

Yarn recommended:
Any fingering weight yarn to match gauge.

My blue sample is knit using Explorer Knits + Fibers Earthy Sock (436 yds/100 g).

My grey sample is knit using Sunday Fibre Co Kindred NSW Fingering (437 yds/100g).

A great commercial alternative is Knitpicks, they have lots of affordable fingering weight yarns!

Yardage Recommended:
Recommended length:
18(18.5, 18.5, 19){19.5, 20, 20.5}(21, 21.5, 22, 22.5)
Estimated yardage - Long Sleeves:
980(1100, 1180, 1300){1450, 1580, 1770}(1900, 2080, 2180, 2340)
Estimated yardage - Short Sleeves:
700(800, 875, 975){1100, 1200, 1375}(1475, 1600, 1700, 1850)
Additional yardage per inch of body:
37(41, 45, 49){54, 58, 64}(68, 72, 76, 81)

Yardage is an approximation based on math and tester averages, and is calculated using the recommended length and no waist shaping. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to do any length modifications, especially if you know you have a long torso or prefer a longer sweater/sleeves.
