Crochet your very own French Style market bag with this easy-peasy mesh stitch pattern. The bag is big enough to be used a holiday beach bag, a stylish holdall to wander around the market, or is ideal as bag for baby things (and they need A LOT!).

This pattern is written in US terms (stitch conversions are readily available on the internet).

Requirements:

2 x 100g skeins of Aran weight/worsted weight #4 100% cotton yarn (I used ‘Divante’ Finest Collection from The Range in the UK) in 2 complimentary colours (A, B). You can add more colours or just use 1 colour throughout, but you will need 200g of yarn altogether. If your tension is particularly loose, you may need another skein of yarn, just to be sure.

Stitches used:

Ch = chain

St = stitch

dc = double crochet

sk = skip a stitch/chain

sc = single crochet

ss = slip stitch
