Marksbury Wrap
Marksbury Wrap is a reversible, rectangular wrap worked in fast-to-create bulky weight yarn. It features reversible cables that are different on the right and wrong sides, bands of knit/purl ribbing worked sideways, and innovative i-cord cast-on and i-cord selvedges. The stitch pattern is completely charted.
Marksbury Wrap has been professionally tech edited.
Once you are done knitting this pattern, you are done; weave in the ends, wet block, and you are ready to wear it with your favourite shawl pin.
The sample was knit in Shelridge Yarns Windmere, a 80%/20% blend of super wash merino and nylon. If you choose another yarn, aim for one with a substantial proportion of wool, to ensure that the stitch pattern pops and you are able to block the cables to advantage.
Even if you don’t usually make a gauge swatch for a shawl or wrap, I strongly suggest you do for this pattern, especially if you have a tendency to be a tight knitter. The pattern stitches are substantial, particularly the reversible cable component, and you want a wrap that drapes, that is not stiff.
The second photo shows both sides of the reversible cables.
The beautiful cable pattern comes from Moira Ravenscroft’s and Anna Ravenscroft’s Book, Reversible Knitting Stitches. The book is a treasure.
