This cheerful gingham design explores mosaic knitting in the round with just one active yarn per row. Knit double-stranded with fingering yarn, the result is a moderately heavy mitt with a marled-like appearance.

What makes this pattern different?

• Two strands of fingering yarn are held together as you knit to create a warm, heavier mitt.
• Very easy to work! The bulk of the design is formed with plain knitting and slipping of sts.
• Very easy to make a colorful design! Just one active yarn color per round.

When you block the finished piece with steam, the wool yarns slightly melt together to create a soft, muted appearance.

This is a great way to create an impressive project from just a couple balls of fingering yarn. Yarn amounts vary based on size….here are some guidelines:

Small : Main Color = 110 yds
Contrast Color = 72 yds

Medium : Main Color = 155 yds
Contrast Color = 110 yds

Large : Main Color = 175 yds
Contrast Color = 115 yds

Note: this pattern creates a similar final result as the Glad for Plaid Fingerless Mitts…but that design is created by using a single strand of worsted yarn, instead of 2 strands of fingering as is done with this pattern.
