The pattern is written without abbreviations to be screen reader accessible, and easier to read for neurodiverse people and those unfamiliar with reading patterns. This should not interrupt the flow of reading the pattern for others. In any typical line of instruction it simply means the word ‘knit’ is spelled out, and not abbreviated to ‘k’.
