Marloes
Marloes is a slouchy beanie hat closed with a turbanesque twist.
The pattern was just a quick hat I knitted on holiday in pembrokeshire that I wrote up quickly because I felt the twist made it look kinda different.
The twist is knitted by working two strips flat and then grafting, one as a loop to the opposite quarter of the hat and the other looped through to create a twist before grafting to its opposing quarter - believe me its more obvious than it reads!
It took me a couple of evenings to knit, you can adjust sizing by multiples of 4 stitches - but remember, at the top you divide into quarters so if your original number is divisible by 4 then groovy!
Enjoy x
06/08/2017 ERRATTA from my mum ;-) Nothing major, just 1) Technically it’s not a fisherman’s rib, but if you know how to do a proper fishermans rib then go for it, I’m sure it would look just as good, and apparently reversible which would be cool and 2) if you are a tight knitter you might find a 5.5mm or 6mm better…I’m ok on a 5mm but I’ve changed the pattern to say 6mm as the wool I used is light and a bit silky, I’ve cast on again with proper wool and I think I’ll go up a size x
