** Antelope Canyon Asymmetry**

This wrap is dedicated to Antelope Canyon in Arizona, an impressive and most fascinating slot canyon. If you are an American who can easily make it there, and you have not seen it yet, please visit this marvel – it will be a breathtaking experience.
I always wanted to knit something that resembles a slot canyon, and when I saw Lanas Stop’s Lace Top in color 216, I was hooked. Of course, you can work this wrap with any lace yarn that has a color flow and could end up with a completely different look.

Concerning the wrap, I wished for something a bit different from what you usually work. I wanted asymmetry, I wanted transformation possibilities, and I wanted short rows for a wavy “Antelope Canyon-like” appearance – and Marocombe is what I came up with.

You can pin this wrap to your clothes almost any way you like. If your size is larger than M, but you still wish to wrap this around your body as in the pictures, just buy an extra ball of yarn or two and go up with the needle size. The wrap will be a bit more open then.

Pattern files include

• charts for the body and the lace border (chart 1 for the body as a separate file; see explanation below)

Concerning the charts: The lace border was naturally easy to chart, the body, however, is challenging as with this fine yarn and US 2 / 2.75 mm needles used, there are hundreds of stitches and rows at the end. I included the whole body as one chart (pdf), which you can closely look at at your computer but cannot print out in one piece, as you could not make out stitches and rows. If you like charts better than written instructions and want to print chart 1, you will have to play around with the print settings concerning percentage and selected area. If you are good at a computer, this will be no problem; if you are rather unfamiliar with this, you may become frustrated. I thought you should know this before having bought the pattern.

What you will learn (if not already familiar with it):

• how to work a wrap with asymmetrical increases for interesting shaping,
• how to work short rows in right and wrong side rows and how to avoid holes in the fabric
• how to bind off with a crochet hook. You do not need to be familiar with short rows or crochet bind-offs at all (just need a crochet hook of similar size to the knitting needles).

• Yarn: Lanas Stop Lace Top (superwash) (less than two balls = approx. 2.9 oz / 82 g = 680/755 yd / 620/690 m), color 216

The manufacturer lists the yardage for one ball as follows: 50 g = 380/420 m, 415/459 yd.

• US 2 / 2,75 mm regular or circular needles (at least ~30” / 80 cm)
• Crochet hook: 3 mm (same or similar size compared to knitting needle)
• Tapestry needle to weave in yarn ends

** Antelope Canyon-Asymmetrie**

Ich widme dieses Tuch dem Antelope Canyon in Arizona, einem eindrucksvollen, faszinierenden Slot Canyon. Wer die Chance hat, ihn sich anzusehen, sollte sie nicht verstreichen lassen – eine atemberaubende Erfahrung.
Ich wollte schon immer etwas stricken, was einem Slot Canyon gleicht, und als ich das Lace Top-Garn von Lanas Stop in Farbe 216 sah, wurde ich sofort süchtig. Natürlich können Sie das Tuch mit jedem Spitzengarn stricken, das einen Farbverlauf hat. Manchmal wirkt sich ein nur wenig unterschiedlicher Farbverlauf spektakulär anders aus.

Für das Tuch wünschte ich mir etwas Anderes als das, was man gewöhnlich strickt. Ich wollte Asymmetrie, I wollte Transformationsmöglichkeit und ich wollte verkürzte Reihen für eine Wellenoptik – daraus ist Marocombe geworden.

Sie können dieses Tuch fast auf jede beliebige Art mit Sicherheitsnadeln an Ihre Kleidung heften. Wenn Sie eine größere Kleidergröße als M haben, aber das Tuch gern auf ähnliche Weise um Ihren Körper legen möchten wie auf den Bildern, kaufen Sie ein oder zwei zusätzliche Knäuel und verwenden Sie eine größere Nadelgröße. Das Tuch wird dann etwas offener.

Die Strickmusterdateien beinhalten

• Charts für den Körper und die Spitze (Chart 1 für den Körper als separate Datei; siehe Erklärung unten)
• eine schriftliche Anleitung für den Körper Reihe für Reihe,
• Anmerkungen für Anfänger im Spitzestricken,

Zu den Charts: Die Spitze war natürlich einfach darzustellen, der Körper jedoch eine Herausforderung, da bei diesem feinen Garn und der Verwendung von 2,75 mm-Nadeln am Ende Hunderte Maschen und Reihen gearbeitet sind, was diesen Chart recht groß macht. Ich habe ihn komplett als separate Datei (pdf) hochgeladen, wobei sie ihn nicht in einem Stück ausdrucken können, weil Sie darauf keine Maschen und Reihen erkennen würden. Wenn Ihnen Charts lieber sind als geschriebene Anleitungen und Sie den Chart des Körpers ausdrucken möchten, müssen Sie vorher ein, zwei Testdrucke fahren, um die richtigen Druckeinstellungen bezüglich der prozentualen Größe und dem Druckbreich zu finden. Wenn Sie gut am Computer sind, wird das für Sie kein Problem sein; wenn nicht, könnte der Versuch in Frustration enden. Ich dachte, Sie sollten das wissen, bevor Sie das Strickmuster kaufen.

Was Sie lernen werden (falls Sie damit noch keine Erfahrung haben)

• wie Sie ein Tuch mit asymmetrischen Zunahmen für eine interessante Formgebung kreieren,
• wie Sie verkürzte Reihen auf der rechten und linken Seite arbeiten und dabei die entstehenden Löcher vermeiden
• wie Sie mit einer Häkelnadel abhäkeln. ** Sie benötigen keine Vorkenntnisse im Stricken verkürzter Reihen oder im Häkeln (nur eine Häkelnadel ähnlicher Größe wie die Stricknadeln; ~ 3 mm).**
