Marra

Marra is a wonderful Scots word meaning “companion”, “kindred spirit” or “match”. Combine two kindred colours, and experiment with marling, as you whip up a pair of quick to knit wee mitts

Needles and Notions
Gauge-size needle(s) of your preferred type for working small circumferences
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle

Gauge
21 sts and 29 rounds over small circumference stockinette in the round
Use 3.75mm needle(s) as a starting point for swatching.

Pattern notes
Worked with two strands of Milarrochy Tweed held double, at a gauge that creates a dense, velvety and cosy fabric, these mitts are knitted from the cuff up, with a shaped thumb gusset and squishy garter stitch edgings. The pleasing marled fabric lends itself equally well to being worn with either the stockinette, or reverse stockinette sides outermost. Choose your favourite side!
