MARRAM is a cozy, slightly oversized pullover knitted with 2 strands of DK weight yarn in 2 low contrast colours to create a gentle marling effect. You can, however, just use 2 strands of the same colour or a single strands of bulky weight yarn to get the gauge of the pattern. Marram is a round yoke sweater knitted top down and featuring a yoke with long curves of elongated stitches that remind the strands of marram beach grass found all along the Irish coastline and beaches. Starting with the cast on for the neck, the sweater is worked seamlessly top down, using short rows to shape the neckline. After the yoke, the body and sleeves are separated while casting on stitches for underarms, and then worked separately in the round.
As the sweater is knitted top-down, you can also decide on the length as you go. The pattern and the yardage have been given for an average height of 165 cm / 5‘5’’. Please adjust the lengths according to your individual body measurements.
