The Marshmallow Madcap started with the intention of a simple slouchy beanie with a touch of detailing to keep things interesting. Then I made a tiny error and graded all the sizes and knit a whole sample based on the wrong gauge! Don’t worry, everything is fixed now, but this pattern really did a number on my noggin, and now this beanie comes with a silly name because that’s how I felt after realizing my error.

The Marshmallow Madcap is a worsted weight beanie with a slip stitch side detail that provides just the right mix of vanilla knitting and something to keep you interested and wanting to knit one more row. Wear it slouchy or fold up the ribbing for a more fitted look!

Materials

Approximately 55, 77, 100 (120, 142, 165) yds / 50, 71, 92 (110, 130, 151) m worsted weight yarn or any yarn with which you can match gauge
US 7 /4.5 mm needles (or needle size required to meet gauge) in whatever method you prefer for small circumference knitting Note: If you prefer a tighter brim, knit the ribbing in a needle one size down from the needle you used to obtain gauge
