This simple pullover sweater for infants and children has a crew neck in children’s sizes and a shoulder opening with placket and buttons in infant sizes, for easier dressing. The sweater is knit in the round to the underarm split, then upper body is worked back and forth to the shoulders. Sleeves stitches are picked up from the armhole, then sleeves are knit top down, in the round. The Samoyeds at play make for a fun sweater, sure to be a hit with dog lovers.

This sweater is named for my first ever Samoyed, Marshmallow (1974-1986). She was sweet as can be, shy, soft, and addictive. She sold me on the breed forever.

Sizes: 3 mos (6 mos, 12 mos, 18 mos, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10)
Finished chest measurements: 20 (21, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, 30½, 32)”/51 (53.5, 56, 58.5, 63.5, 68.5, 73.5, 77.5, 81) cm

Materials:
DK Weight Rowan Felted Tweed (50% wool, 25% alpaca, 25% viscose). 50 gr balls/skeins, 191 yds/175 m per ball, or any DK yarn that will give you the same gauge. 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) balls MC; 1 (1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2) balls CC1.

Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm), US 6 (4.0 mm) circulars, or size needed to achieve gauge; Needle length for baby sizes, 16 in/40 cm; for child sizes, 24 in/60 cm
1 set each US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 6 (4.0 mm) dpns (for sleeves)

Gauge: 22 sts/30 rows = 4”/10 cm on larger needles in stockinette stitch (Note: since part of this garment is knit in the round and part flat, it is recommended to do a gauge swatch both flat and in the round since different needle sizes may be required for each method.)
