Marta the Musk Ox
Marta the Musk Ox is part of project Arctic. In Project Arctic I crochet different animals that live on or around the poles. They may live on the ice, in the air or in the water. What makes those animals special, is that many of them have a very different appearance when they’re young compared to when they are grown up. And that is very nice to crochet!
The name of this hairy creature is coming from the strong smell of the males. It is meant to attract female musk oxen. The musk ox lives primarily in the arctic regions of Canada and Greenland, but has been introduced in the boreal areas of Scandinavia. The musk oxen live in herds of 10-20 animals.
It’s long hair, bison like appearance and the big horns made the musk ox a joy for crocheting.
Size
The musk ox is about 11 cm high, 10 cm wide and 20 cm long.
