Construction
Pampas is a classic take on the ’White Feather’ Pampas Grass. This decorative grass is world-famous for its massive size and theatrical floral display. Plumes emerge mid-summer and shine silky white above narrow blades of vibrant green. Plumes last through the winter, adding texture during the dormant season. This cardigan was born from a the yarn of another sweater that also laid dormant for a while until the yarn was pulled back and prepared for its new life as a cardigan. Pampas is knit from the top down seamlessly and worked flat back and forth. The lace is a simple leaflet design resembling the Pampas plumes, with mini bobbles found in the yoke. There are short rows at the neck and back using German short rows or desired wrap and turn method. The button band and sleeves are picked up and knit after the body is worked and finished using a twisted rib stitch with an optional I-cord bind off along the edge. The fit is easily customizable to provide the best possible fit.
The sample photographed used Malabrigo Rios (a light worsted weight yarn) in the color way Marte. The lace pattern is written in chart form only.
This pattern has not made it through all the stages of testing.
