Marusin
“Marusin” is an oversized jumper (pullover) with long sleeves, dropped shoulder and carefully curved neck, worked from bottom to the top as a single piece in rounds until armholes, then front and back sections split and we work in back- and forth- rows to shape neck and shoulders, then we pick up stitches from the armholes and go down the cuffs for the sleeves.
The pattern is written in standard English knitting terms and requires certain skills, such as:
knit, purl, yo, increase “2 from 1”, ssk, skp, k2tog, k2tog, s2kp2, sskpp, p2tog (the last 8 stitches are followed with a written and video-instructions for your convenience), double stitch (also goes with a video).
The pattern is calculated and carefully tested for 4 sizes, based on finished chests:
(1) 115 cm 45”, (2) 130 cm 51”, (3) 150 cm 59”, (4) 165 cm 65”.
“Marusin” is designed to have 25-50 cm 10-20” ease around chest, but you’re free to adjust this parameter.
You will have to obtain my gauge: 21 sts and 28 rows in stockinette stitch on the larger needles after blocking.
Yarn: Worsted or Aran weight with around 250-300 m in 100 g 270-330 yds in 3.5 oz in Alpaca+PA blend or similar. You can use other weights of yarn if you obtain the gauge.
I used Italian cone yarn “Mirage” (34% Baby Alpaca, 33% PA, 22% viscose, 6% merino) 260 m in 100 g 284 yds/3.5 oz
Total around 1250 (1400) 1700 (1900) m 1367 (1531) 1860 (2077) yds or 480 (540) 650 (730) g.
Needles and notions: 4,00 mm US size 6 circulars with 40-100 cm cord 15-40” or any which help you obtain the gauge; and 3,5 mm US 4 or any 0,5 mm (half a size) smaller than the larger ones; DPNs of the same sizes if you don’t use Magic Loop method for the sleeves;
stitch markers, measuring tape, tapestry needle of crochet hook size 3,5-4 mm US E-G to hide loose ends; scissors, row counter.
