This hooded jumper is knit in stockinette stitch in the round from the bottom up. The body and sleeves are knit separately and then joined at the underarms. The yoke is formed using raglan decreases. The hood is worked back and forth and joined at the top using Kitchener stitch. The underarms are joined using 3 needle bind off. In the sweater pictured above, colour A is green, colour B is yellow, colour C is blue. Instructions are given for working the stripes as pictured, but you can use any pattern you like!
Yarn ~ DK weight (approx):
Total: 625 (750, 875, 1000) (1125, 1300, 1425) yards
Colour A: 250 (325, 400, 475) (550, 625, 700) yards.
Colour B: 200 (225, 250, 275) (300, 350, 375) yards.
Colour C: 175 (200, 225, 250) (275, 325, 350) yards.
Needles:
US 4 / 3.5mm and US 6 / 4mm circular needle (60cm).
US 4 / 3.5mm and US 6 / 4mm dpns or circular needle (80cm or longer).
Notions:
4 stitch markers, safety pin or locking stitch marker, waste yarn, tapestry needle.
Sizing:
Instructions are given for 1 (2, 4, 6) (8, 10, 12) years.
To fit chest size (with 3-4 inches / 7.5-10 cm of positive ease):
19 (21, 23, 25) (26.5, 28, 30) inches /
48.5 (53.5, 58.5, 63.5) (67.5, 71, 76) cm.
Actual measurements:
22.5 (24.7, 26.9, 29.1) (30.5, 32, 34.2) inches /
57 (62.5, 68.5, 74) (77.5, 81, 87) cm.
Gauge:
22 sts and 32 rows = 4 inch / 10 cm square in stockinette stitch. Use smaller needles for ribbing.
