Mary Jane Shoe
The Mary Jane shoe is a pretty, knitted summer baby shoe with a crochet border and strap. It knits up quickly in an aran weight yarn and is perfect for wearing over tights in the winter or by themselves when it gets warm. The strap is adjustable for a good fit. You will practise cables, knitting in the round, Kitchener stitch and basic crochet. If you haven’t done crochet before, there’s a very detailed photo guide on how to do the strap.

Choosing Your Yarn
The pattern was designed using an Aran weight yarn. When choosing your yarn look for a rough gauge of 18 stitches, 25 rows to 10cm. Ball weight examples would be 100g (3.5oz) to a length of 142m (155yds).
Sizing
The Mary Jane shoe comes in 4 sizes:
8 wks to 4 mths, UK-0 / US-1, length 9.5cm
4-6 mths, UK-1 / US-2, length 10.5cm
6-9 mths, UK-2 / US-3, length 11cm
9-12 mths, UK-3 / US-4, length 11.5cm
The fit is aimed at the upper-end size and age. For example, a 4-6 month shoe size is worked out on lengths and proportions of a standard 6 month foot. There is wiggle room for the toes but the rest of the shoe is quite fitted.
